Network your TV & unlock the videos, music & photos from your computer
Kaiser Baas release the K1000, a network media player that streams digital video, music & photos from your PC.
Melbourne, VIC. August 26, 2009. Kaiser Baas today announces the release of K1000 Network Media Player, a digital media adapter for your TV that plays digital videos, music & photos as slideshows from a computer or network attached storage drive. With built in networking capabilities and TV connections that let you connect to legacy TVs with analogue connections, or to high definition TVs with HDMI connections, the K1000 lets you browse content from a computer, NAS device or game console on the network and play them to your TV much like new generation TVs with the built-in DLNA™ feature. It also plays digital media from USB storage devices such as USB thumb drives & USB external hard drives to your TV. Designed as a home entertainment appliance, the Kaiser Baas K1000 will be available in Australia at leading IT retailers from mid-September, 2009 at a suggested retail price of $179.95.
"We know digital media adapters have been around for a number of years, but it's not until recently that people are becoming aware of the benefits of these products with the efforts of such organisations like the DLNA," says Murray Roberts, Product Manager of Kaiser Baas. "The Media Player offers people a cheap solution to upgrade their TVs with digital connectivity features."
HOME NETWORK
With a home network as an essential ingredient, the Kaiser Baas Network Media Player breaks the barrier between playing your digital videos, music & photos on the small screens of a computer, and enjoying it your large screen TV and home entertainment system in the living room. It serves as a network adapter for browsing through content on a computer and playing back media files directly to the TV using a remote control. There is no need for the user to burn videos, music & photos onto a CD or DVD for playback on another device. It features an Ethernet port for connecting to a wired local area network (LAN), USB host port for connecting USB devices; and AV connections for connecting it to a TV and home audio system, including HDMI & digital audio (optical & coaxial).
DIGITAL MEDIA FORMATS
A key feature of the K1000 is its ability to playback a wide variety of digital video, music & image formats that exist between computers and input devices. The K1000 takes the hard work out of guessing which file formats and codecs[i] can be played back to the TV by being compatible with all the popular & niche file formats a consumer would stumble across when searching & sharing movies, music & photos. These include common video formats like AVI, MPG, MP4, WMV, ISO, TP, TS, and more obscure internet formats like MOV & MKV. It even supports videos encoded in DivX, XVid & H.264 which are popular with BitTorrent[ii] downloaded movies. Digital audio & image formats like MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC, OGG, FLAC; and JPG and BMP (for image files) are also supported, making it a virtual “Swiss Army knife” for digital media playback.
HIGH DEFINITION HOME ENTERTAINMENT
The K1000 is a likely companion for your high definition home cinema experience, featuring “Full HD”, 1080p resolution with Dolby Digital™/DTS surround sound output (passthrough only) for native DVD & Blu-ray movie experience. Backed up DVDs are played with full DVD menus, chapter points, audio selection, subtitles and surround sound. It even doubles as a digital music jukebox, allowing you to browse and playback MP3 music as well as high quality, lossless audio formats like PCM & FLAC for the pure audiophiles.
